Whamr is intentionally simple. No accounts. No ads. No learning curve. Here’s every feature you can use, in detail.

Browse or search the library

Open the meme library and you land in a grid of every meme Whamr has. Hover any video card with your mouse and it autoplays muted, like Twitter or Reddit. Tap or click any card to open the full preview.

Search bar

Type a word, an actor, an emotion. The grid filters live as you type. Searches across titles, tags, and categories.

Category pills

Tap "Naija" for Nollywood content. Tap "Dance" for celebration moments. Tap "Reactions" for face-saying-everything moments.

Favourites tab

A pink heart pill at the top filters to memes you’ve saved. Empty until you start hearting things.

Pro tip

Try searching "pawpaw" or "scream" or "dance", you’ll see the search is forgiving. Partial words work, capitalisation doesn’t matter.

Save what hits

See something good but not sending it right now? Hit the heart icon on the meme. It saves to your Favourites instantly. No sign-up, no account, saved straight to your browser so it’s there next time you visit.

On the grid

Hover or tap any card. A heart icon appears in the top right. Tap to save, tap again to unsave.

In the preview

Open any meme’s preview modal. There’s a Save button next to Share. Same effect.

Find them later

Tap the pink Favourites pill at the top of the library. Only your saved memes show.

Heads up

Favourites are saved per-device. Open Whamr on a different phone and they’ll start fresh. Account sync is on the roadmap.

Send anywhere, in one tap

This is the part that makes Whamr useful. Open any meme, hit the pink Share button, and you get a sheet with every major messaging app and social platform pre-formatted to take your meme.

On phones, you also get a "More..." option that opens your phone’s native share menu, so you can send to any app, even ones not on the grid.

How the link works

Each meme has its own URL like whamr-app.vercel.app/?m=m007. Sending it on WhatsApp shares that link. The recipient taps, lands on Whamr with the meme already open, ready to share onward.

Frequently asked.

Do I need to sign up?

No. Whamr works without any account. Open the site, browse, share. Done.

Are my favourites saved if I close the browser?

Yes, on the same device, in the same browser. Open Whamr again next week and your favourites are still there. Switch to a different phone or laptop, and they don’t carry over yet. Account sync is on the roadmap.

Can I upload my own memes?

Yes. There’s an Upload button at the top of the library page. Pick MP4 or GIF files from your device. Important: those uploads are only visible to you, on that device. Other people opening Whamr won’t see them. Good for personal use, not sharing.

Where do the memes come from?

The starting library is hand-curated. We’re adding more weekly. If you have a meme you want included, message us with it.

Why is Whamr free?

It’s a prototype. We’re building to see if people actually use it. No ads, no signups, nothing tracked. If it grows, paid tiers might come later for things like sticker pack creation, but the core meme library will stay free.

Does it work on iPhone?

Browsing, searching and sending work the same everywhere: any modern phone or laptop with a browser. Installing a sticker pack does not. A .wastickers file is an Android format, and iOS has nothing that opens it, so the pack builder is Android only for now. On an iPhone you can still send any sticker straight into a chat one at a time.

When I tap Share to WhatsApp, what happens?

On a phone, your share sheet opens with the picture itself attached, so it lands in the chat as an image and whoever gets it sees it without leaving WhatsApp. On a desktop browser, which cannot hand a file to the share sheet, WhatsApp Web opens with a link to the meme instead.

Will Whamr have stickers for WhatsApp?

Yes, that’s the next big feature on the roadmap. The plan is one-tap sticker pack export for WhatsApp, Telegram, Signal, and Discord. Each app has different format rules and we’re building a converter that handles them all.

Is there a mobile app?

Not yet. Whamr is a web app for now, it works in any browser, no install needed. A native mobile app is possible later if usage justifies it.

How do I report a bug or suggest a feature?

Send a message to the team via WhatsApp. We’re actively building, so feedback shapes what gets added next.
